Jon’s Story
I’ve been repairing and working on cars, trucks, boats, and anything mechanical since I was a kid more than thirty years ago. I started working on engines when I was about ten years old. My dad brought home an old lawn mower engine and helped me get it started, I hid behind his truck because I thought it was going to blow up!
When I got the lawn mower engine running, I took it apart and reassembled it countless times. After that, I built mini-bikes, go-karts, and bought a dirt bike which took me about six months to earn enough money to make it run.
Soon after I graduated from high school, I started working at a dealership as a lube technician. When I moved to another dealership with the promise of a raise, they gave me a truck lift. I’m 6′-2″ and the lift only went up four feet! Needless to say, I didn’t stick around that dealership too long.
My longest service with one employer was my fifteen years as a service technician with Lexus, where I learned many esteemed principles of customer care. I practice those same principles today as the proprietor and hands-on technician at J&S Automotive.
I still love repairing almost anything, but I generally stick to cars, trucks, and vehicles of any kind. I am very persistent and it drives me crazy when I can’t immediately find what’s causing a problem, but that’s the challenge. For me, it’s like a crossword puzzle or a whodunit novel, I can’t stop until I solve it!
I am passionate about helping people fix their vehicles and am happy to provide free information and advice. If you have a car question, feel free to call me anytime. I look forward to hearing from
A few words from Jon
I love fishing and boating, I’m not a great fisherman but the challenge is what makes it fun. I also prefer aluminum jet boats over fiberglass ones. Likewise, I enjoy riding quads and dirt bikes and exploring on different trails through the woods. I have two children. Rachel is now attending the University of Oregon as a college freshman and Nicholas is attending Portland state university. Both help me out in the shop when they are here, so you might get a chance to meet them. I grew up in Connecticut and moved to Oregon in my late teens, so I love the Pacific Northwest. However, I do wish it was a little sunnier sometimes. Oh, and did I mention that I love working on cars?
Owner and founder of J&S Automotive
Our promise to you
We are committed to doing the best job possible. We will not deliver a vehicle unless we feel the work was done right. We will always give you an estimate before we start working and we can send you photographs or pictures that illustrate the problem. Additionally, we can save the old parts to show you precisely where the issue was. Many customers will tell us that they don’t know anything about cars, but we can explain why a certain job is needed or a part needs to be replaced in a manner that is understandable to most anyone. Sometimes it is difficult to decide if a job really needs to be done, but we will help you make a decision by explaining different pros and cons
We fix it right the first time, every time
